I have postdoctoral experience in marine ecology, population genetics and biomathematics, particularly in developing species distribution and bio-physical models of species and ecosystems in both hemispheres. My research has been focused on studying the effects of climatic changes in the distribution and genetic diversity of marine structuring species. I have also developed platforms for free access to biodiversity distribution data, and oceanographic data for bioclimatic modelling, from the surface to the bottom layers of the global ocean. These efforts allowed the publication >40 scientific papers, >10 of which as first author, and my main research outputs were presented in >10 international meetings and also for the general public. I teach Marine Ecological Modelling and Climate Change in the International MSc Programme at University of Algarve, and I supervised > 15 students. Working at the Center of Marine Sciences (classified as Excellent in the most recent national evaluation) allowed me to engage in several international scientific projects and to establish active collaborations with national and international teams. I have excellent command of the English language, as demonstrated by the leadership of several publications in outstanding scientific journals.
